It was about 9PM when the lights went down and the band came on to a packed Deer Creek. The Mockingbird Foundation The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community. They played all new tunes I did not know, but quickly caught on to and enjoyed. Still Upside Down, S. I wish I had cared enough to grab one of those autographs, or even save my stub from that show now that I know how epic it ended up being and what a large part of my life Phish would become. New song was a treat.

Enjoyed Page acknowledging the crowd and the banter around Breath and Burning. So it got my blood pumping again.

Of course the rain delay only made me more excited for what was to come We were lit again. Phidh is a grooving little guy. With my lhish in tow to make sure I behaved, and along with all my brother's college buddies we made our way to the show. I love the three part harmony vocal call and answer and Trey's soloing was amazing. Another rare one that I had never heard before, but loved. We were supposed to go home.
So going into this, my fourth Phish show, having done my "homework" listening to tapes, I felt I was ready to rock along with every tune note for note. Very little that was notable about the show otherwise, pretty typical 3.
Punch ohish a great set opener. Still Upside Down, S. I wasn't there, but this is a great example of throwback Phish that I love to check out from time to time. Get ready, cuz Phish is going to burn that shed to ground by the end of Wednesday night. I don't really like Golden Age, but the Boogie On that follows it is as fun as pbish. After the show, we were crazy phiwh and hung out at our car in the lot eating all of the snacks we had brought with us while we waited for traffic to clear.
I really enjoy the new song they debuted too, Breath and Burning. We all waiting calmly for maybe 10 minutes for the gates to open.
This provided time to drink a couple cheap beers from my cooler, listen to Live Bait 12, and let the rain drops cool us down. This three song combo was on phissh fire, Trey used the echoplex exquisitely into Boogie and carried it through the whole song. Ironically, because Phish is, well, Phishy, serious songwriting can be to their benefit or their detriment depending upon various factors, in my opinion.

I love this band. Yeah it didn't go 20 minutes, but it sure did fit a lot of jamming styles in one, one of the songs of the night. It lets us know that these jams come from a metaphysical place and is generated from the crowd's energy.
The intro sounds like Have Mercy, so I was really psyched for a moment, but then Shade started with its lyrics being unusually repetitive and the instrumentation not doing much for me. I'm starting to get use to the non jamming first sets.

We were on Tour. Maze starts and the rain answers. Because even though it is close, it is not 9'. Then a Possum to end the set. First set was nice, starting with a MYF openerphisj set had a decidedly Rifty feel to it crisp and cleen very song oriented no much jamming just very solid versions Tube x tra slow, Maze, Saw iT Again, and the new tune.

I was really calling crossed eye on this one, but getting pyite was wonderful, maybe not exactly a nailed version but I will take it. Since I was alone, I walked right up to an empty second row seat in front of Trey.

Soon after it began to rain a bit, but I don't think anyone on the lawn minded First Tube kicked it up a notch.
